GREEDS REMINDED ME

about how I'm failing miserably at the summer goals I made. [greeds = here] she loves me more than you though, so dont get your hopes up. ANYWAYS. I just wanted to get back into my art, and get more physical (gym, yoga, KICK BOXING, whatever). All I've done this summer is sleep, eat, party, and watch tv. THAT IS A MESS! I think the first thing I need to do is get my sleeping together (as I type to you all at 12:48 in the fucking am), you're always more productive in the morning, I need a routine, I keep saying this, and I never make one. AHHHH. well I'm starting right now, by going to sleep! toodles!

Fab Find 001

so I feel like I now have a theme for my personal blog, and not just the random stuff I'm still gonna post anyways. As you know I write for DTY and Whitney (the founder) wants us all to have our own sections, everybody wants to do fashion or makeup or hair, whateverrr, I got the idea from my MUTHAFUCKING IDOL, Kimora Lee Simmons. Her first (maybe only) book is called "Fabulosity" and I kid you not it's like my bible, sits next to my bed and everything. She's saying no matter what budget, you have to do the best you can, etc. So although I dont have tons of money, I'm not a baller, I barely get any hours at work, I still find my life to be fabulous, and I wanna share with other pretty ladies how I live such a rich life. And that's where this all began, so thanks Whitney! I'm sure a lot of what I post here (especially the fab finds) will make their way over to DTY in a much cleaner and less opinionated way, lol. with that being said, I bring you the first of (hopefully) many, dun dun dun... a Fab Find!

now, dining can be an event in itself, you dont always have to hit the club and go wild, a lot of times me and my girlfriends just like to go out and enjoy good conversation and a nice meal. Upscale restaurants can take all the money in your pockets and then some, but what you dont know is often restaurants offer a fixed rate 3 course dinner. Now I'm in the DC metro area, and I love Oya (clickable), this is a fabulous restaurant, not only is it beautiful, the food is GREAT, but they offer a $29 dinner prix fixe. Now I got some pictures to share my meal with you guys, but they're kinda bootleg, cuz 1. I took them on my phone and 2. I didnt use the flash cuz I didnt wanna look extra pressed but I still wanted to share it with you guys!

my first course: crunchy shrimp sushi (the idea for the blog post only came to me half way through my 1st course, so only 4 pieces are pictured, but you really get 8)

moving on... Monday was the BESTIE'S birthday, we went to cheesecake factory, ended up in NE for a little, poor Brittney was getting hit on by creepers left and right, lmao. But it was a good time, and now my Partner In Crime is legal! owwww! watch out DMV, its gonna be troubleeee.

I'm still debit card - less? I don't know if I shared that story or not, but my card stopped working, and I had to get a new one, etc. ugh I hate it, I don't like taking out cash, cuz I'll spend it, I like having my card so I can spend just what I need too, without extra. smh. SO i'm going to attempt to stay home this weekend... we'll see what happens.

I still need to establish a summer routine, cuz even though I have nothing to do besides working the 12 hours a week that I do, I need some discipline. My sleep is already starting to get jacked up again. its nooo goood. I said I was gonna pick up my art again, but we'll see. I'll work it out.

has gotten the best of me yet again. I want to tackle this room but I dont know where to begin, smh. All things clothes related are getting attacked! I'm so tired of not knowing what I have, what I dont have, what I need, etc. nope! those days are over, my project of the week (well half a week, cuz I'm starting tomorrow) is the closet! What makes ME sad is not that its now out done Africa, but that so few people knew about it before today. Like this isnt something new, why is this JUST being brought to people's attentions? Just goes to show how uninformed people truly are, hopefully this will bring a change.
here are the numbers just so you can understand what's going on:

At least 3 percent of District residents have HIV or AIDS, a total that far surpasses the 1 percent threshold that constitutes a "generalized and severe" epidemic, according to a report scheduled to be released by health officials tomorrow.

That translates into 2,984 residents per every 100,000 over the age of 12 -- or 15,120 -- according to the 2008 epidemiology report by the District's HIV/AIDS office.

"Our rates are higher than West Africa," said Shannon L. Hader, director of the District's HIV/AIDS Administration, who once led the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's work in Zimbabwe. "They're on par with Uganda and some parts of Kenya."

Valentine's Day...

is right around the corner, and even though I thought I would be, I'm not feeling mad, sad, bitter, or any of that. I guesssss I can put some of my business out there. But I mean, I really thought months ago, Valentine's day would come, and I'd be so blown, cuz of all the shit that happened with my ex, and all past failed relationships as well. But this year it's been really different for me, I'm truly happy on my own. I mean of course what girl doesnt want to be taken out on Valentine's day and all that, but I was pressed to go out, I turned down some offers in fact. It just makes me realize I'm growing up, and being able to stand on my own, makes me happy you know. And then it got me thinking about people who really be faking like they ain't bitter, but they are, "oh I just dont like Valentine's Day". Whatever, what's not to like about a day of love? Love isnt just boyfriend/girlfriend, I got my parents cards, my friends things, like I love a lot, and I'm boyfriendless! So everybody who's dreading Saturday, don't. It's not worth it. So, now let me elaborate on such things. I'm at a point in my life where I'm about to be 21 years old, I never would have seen myself to be this person, where I am, all that, at 21 years old. Its not all negative, its just a bit of a wake up call to myself, because everyone deserves that for themselves, to do the best I can, and go after my dreams. Thankfully though, I feel like my dreams aren't long gone or nothing like that, just might take a little extra time to get where I wanna get. Anyhoo, with that said, I didn't really feel like celebrating my birthday, because I didn't feel like there was much to celebrate. lol. and I'm not sad or mad or anything about it, it just is what it is, I lost the excitement I had. BUT YOU ALL DO KNOW THE NEW MADEA MOVIE COMES OUT ON MY B-DAY RIGHT?! I surely will be the first ninja up in the theater that day! as for twitter/facebook, they're just distractions I don't need. why do people say things KNOWING its going to upset you... and then get mad you get upset?

and to update you guys on the bday situation... its only getting worse. :/ real post whenever I think of a topic that isn't me bitching, lol.

is really the perfect word to describe how I'm feeling right now...

for the unaware, ambivalent can be defined as follows:

1. Uncertain or unable to decide about what course to follow
2. The coexistence of opposing attitudes or feelings (such as love and hate) towards a person, object or idea; A state of uncertainty or indecisiveness

So to elaborate, cuz I know this feeling could be towards a lot of things, a few of you know about how my 21st birthday is next month. My dumbass wanted to do it really big, have a bomb time, because I haven't really ever had a big memorable birthday. So I'm like cool, here's my opportunity, I don't even go out like that, let me have this one weekend on lock.

so I'm not one to leave things to the last minute; well that's a lie, cuz I procrastinate like CRAZY when it comes to school, but with anything else, nah. So, I'm looking around getting my prices together, trying to put plans together, and it's just one thing after another. Now originally I wanted to do a large dinner with about 25-30 guests @ some nice spot in DC, I figured since most of my friends aren't even 21 yet, they could come out that night. That idea is out the door. Most higher end restaurants wont take a party larger than 10 without a set dinner menu, that can cost at least 45/person EASY. Many people don't have money like that especially considering the times. So my nice guest list, got chopped down to 10 of my favorite ladies. Then I wanted to cop a table at this spot on Saturday night, they blatantly said 1000 for a table on the second level (which is the part that's popping) as a starting price. Excuse me? I don't have a real job, I mean I just cant afford it. So that got nexted.

So, I figure cool, lets do the dinner Friday, then get in Sat & Sun at 2 spots for free & as VIP, cuz I know some people. THEN my extra ass is like, "hey lets get a suite so we can party AFTER the club". Now come to find out my mother was going to suggest this anyways, cuz she didn't want us drinking and driving. SO all this hotel drama is going on, what nights, where to stay, who's staying, who's putting in money, who needs to have a bed cuz they paid, who wants to go where. Its just frustrating. Not to mention I'm a female, gotta get 3 different outfits, hair, makeup, nails, like everything is going to start adding up.

This whole situation just has me feeling torn, part of me wants to just say "fuck it" and cancel everything, and just sit in my room with a bottle and call it a day on some depressed pissed off type tip. And then the other half is feeling the complete opposite, like don't give up, its your birthday, you got to do it big. And both of these feelings are equally strong, but completely opposite, I was like geez is that possible. And clearly it is, because there's a word for it... AMBIVALENT.

that's how I'm feeling, guess I just had to get it off my chest; I'll leave this one at "to be continued..."

Do people not realize how many people died for all those Middle Eastern leaders to gain all that wealth? ummmm. I kinda like these bitches.

They're The-Dream's new project I guess, Electrick Red (click for their myspace), I've been jammin to their shit ultra hard, they're rather sassy, I can dig it. They currently have a single out, "Drink In My Cup", and it's been getting radio play. My personal favorite is "We Fuck You", haaaaaaaaaa. Anyways, I found them on accident, good ole google, womp womp, etc etc. They're kinda commercial (so if you're a hip-hop head don't click), & I doubt they'll have a long running career, but all my fierce ladies should give them a try.
oh and is it just me, or does their main singer sound JUST LIKE Kelis? Either way, they're Diti approved for now.

dogs vs. humans

ahem, now I swear I stay saying how I feel more sympathetic towards animals when they're hurt than I do people. and this morning really reiterated that fact and thought to the fullest.

Now, lets think, you know how you swear up and down you got that unconditional love coming from someone, whether it be your mother, your girlfriend, your husband, your grandmother (nah, grandmothers are excluded from this, cuz them old ladies usually hit you with guilt more so than a full on argument), your life partner, WHOEVER. Now let us really sit here and analyze the shit, yes I'm sure this person does a lot of good in your life, but emotionally, you pay for it. Because as soon as that person gets irritated, mad, annoyed, whatever hidden or small button it is that they do have, and you end up pushing that motherfucker, ALL BETS ARE OFF. That selfless person turns selfish, cuz they don't give a fuck about your feelings or sanity no more, and frankly I am losing mine because of one individual who shall not be named nor disrespected. But all that person is thinking about is how THEY'VE been pissed off, they're not thinking selflessly about nobody, and damn sure not your feelings.

Now, dogs, dogs are some loyal motherfuckers, people beat their dogs, and their dogs still greet them with waging tails everyday. Oh and I don't beat my dogs, they get better treatment than half the people in my life, [before PETA come tryna get my ass]. They don't talk back, they don't emotionally burden you, they just want some food and some love, and they're good to go. They truly are selfless in their love and affection for you. Mommy loves you CoCo!

anyways, this was inspried by me being waken up and getting pissed off by something or someone for 3 days in a row.

so. I was gonna buy a domain, but its not really necessary, lol.
